Many years ago, Wolfgang Schäuble - at that time interior minister of a German federal state - had the idea of installing the Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung as a kind of secret service instead of the traditional intelligence agencies as BfV or BND . Well, now is the opportunity to implement his idea and, moreover, to make the decades of work of certain German and foreign political circles a reality: the complete shutdown of all German secret service work and to lead necessary, efficient government advice to an end. And so I am pleased to point out to my new paper: "Far-right extremists step up international networking", published with Jane‘s Intelligence Review .  Key Points are: Increased monitoring of the communications of far-right extremists suggests that their personal and international contacts are growing in importance. Far-right extremists travel internationally to network at conferences and events, and to gain combat experience and training in conflict zones. The increasing internationalisation of far-right extremism is likely to further international networking between extremists in-person and virtually. I find the new Senate Review of the Intelligence Community Assessment of Russia Investigation extremely useful and since hours I cannot stop reading.  Didn't know that they already planned years ago the Hygiene Demo in Berlin, but here I found the evidence: Multifaceted it obviously is! Die derzeitige Krise, hervorgerufen durch den Corona Virus, bietet eigentlich eine gute Gelegenheit,  die heilige Kuh namens Intelligence Cycle unter nahezu Kriegsbedingungen zu testen:  Traditionelles nachrichtendienstliches Arbeiten orientiert sich seit Jahrzehnten an diesem Modell –  besonders in Europa, besonders in Deutschland. Die spärliche Literatur im deutschen Sprachraum  zu diesem Modell, vieles davon eher im Bereich von Competitive Intelligence angesiedelt,  behandelt dieses starre System geradezu als sakrosankt. Es kann nun bewiesen werden,  ob es funktioniert! Man kann jedoch gleich konstatieren, dass vieles davon nun hinterfragt werden muss. Sammlung  von Daten, Verarbeitung und Weitergabe der dann hoffentlich generierten Informationen: Wie kann  das heute funktionieren? Es fängt bereits bei MEDINT, also Medical Intelligence an. Ganz aufregende, voll krass investigative Recherchen zum derzeit umstrittenen Verein Uniter zeigen Unerhörtes! Unter der Rubrik Investigativ der Tagesschau wird stolz gemeldet, dass das " ARD-Magazin Kontraste  in Zusammenarbeit mit t-online" herausgefunden habe (gar durch gefährliche Recherchen vor Ort?), dass Uniter " mit Kräften der Philippinischen Nationalpolizei (PNP) eine Trainingseinheit im Laguna Distrikt südlich der Hauptstadt Manila durchgeführt [hat]. Im Juli 2019 fand dazu eine Schulung mit der PNP auf den Philippinen statt ."  Ich vermute mal, dass versehentlich der folgende Absatz in dem o.g. Tagesschau-Artikelchen vergessen wurde: Unsere unter Einsatz ihres Lebens investigativ recherchierenden, mutigen Journalisten fanden heraus, dass bereits am 3. April 2019 im Newsletter Intelligence Online u.a. zu lesen war: " Uniter has offered its services to the Philippines in the past. " Unsere tapferen Rechercheure konnten trotz enorm hoher Risik...

Das derzeitige Rascheln im Blätterwald zu den finsteren bis teuflischen Machenschaften der Geheimdienste - bei der aktuellen Geschichte trifft es diesmal überwiegend den BND und die CIA - zeigt eigentlich nur eins: Besonders alter Quark schmeckt eben auch nicht besser, wenn man ihn vehement breit tritt.  Es ist unbestritten, dass geleakte Dokumente, alte Unterlagen und staubige Akten immer interessant und spannend sind. Vermutlich kommen jetzt auch weitere Details zu einer Geschichte ans Tageslicht, die im Rahmen des beliebten Geheimdienst-Bashings als ungeheuerliche Neuigkeit und Beweis für die Unmoral dieser Institutionen verkauft werden. Warum das so ist? Es hat viele Gründe, aber sehe ich diese jungen, betroffenen Investigativjournalisten, die mit ihrem MacBook im Working Space hocken, schlechten Kaffee aus Pappe schlürfen und ganz hysterisch durch ihre Tabellen scrollen oder auf coole Uploads starren, dann wird mir doch mulmig. Fragt man diese Leute, ob sie schon einmal dies...

I read in Israeli media that another high-ranking member of the Iran’s Quds Force is said to have died: AsgharPashapour, a senior member of the Revolutionary Guards’extraterritorial force, was killed Sunday in battle with Syrianopposition forces in Aleppo, the reports said. Somehow this name reminded me of North Korea - but why? Then I remembered: APA, the Asian Parliamentary Assembly! The APA Tenth Plenary Session took place in Istanbul from November 20 to 25, 2017. ... benötigt offenbar für ein Artikelchen über die Liquidierung von Qasem Soleimani die Denkleistung von sage und schreibe 15 Autoren! Soviele werden zumindest auf S. 23 der Printausgabe Nr. 3/11.1.2020 aufgeführt. Dieses gewaltige Opus, das mit schönen, grossen und seitenfüllenden Grafiken geschmückt ist, endet mit der gewichtigen Erkenntnis: "Irgendwann könnte der Schattenkrieg dann zum offenen Krieg werden." Ach ja... "Schattenkrieg", ein spannender, Erwartung weckender Begriff... leider aber wird dazu in dem Artikel, der den Titel "Die Schattenkrieger" trägt, fast nichts geschrieben. Übrigens hatte der Spiegel bereits 2010 unter dem gleichen Titel einen Artikel zum Iran verfasst - allerdings nur von zwei Autoren. Die Arbeit der iranischen Geheimdienste - die sicherlich als Schattenkrieg bezeichnet werden kann - findet im aktuellen Artikel leider keine weitere Beachtung. The graphic below shows an overview of the allies of the North Korean regime abroad. This includes naive parliamentarians and members of NGOs who - consciously or unconsciously - can be exploited by North Korea. Communication channels are important, but not at all costs. This topic is part of a chapter on North Korean intelligence that I wrote for the volume " Intelligence Communities and Cultures in Asia and the Middle East: A Comprehensive Reference ", which will be published shortly and is edited by Bob de Graaff .

A few days ago, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) complained that it had been hacked, presumably by the evil North Koreans. Other institutions in India also complained about similar attacks. It is possible that North Korea has been trying to gather some information on Indian nuclear technology in order to deal with its own energy problems. That's a strange thing with India and North Korea ... It's not fair that ISRO should be targeted by Pyongyang! After all, both states cultivate the very best of cooperation - even in the field of space research! U.a. heisst es: " Konkret geht es um den auf Barbados ansässigen französischen Rechtsanwalt Gerard Lussan." Man kann nur hoffen, dass dieser Kauf gründlich geprüft wird. Das Netzwerk der Personen und Firmen, die dahinter stehen (stecken?), also das ganze Netzwerk, bringt einen aussenstehenden Beobachter doch zum Nachdenken. Bemerkenswert finde ich beispielsweise die Zahlen zu einer der Firmen von Gerard Lussan: Thurloe Finance Ltd.: Am 31. August 2018 präsentierte sie stolz folgende Bilanz: Das sah einmal bedeutend anders aus! Und zwar am 31. August 2017:   Man darf also gespannt sein, wie diese Geschichte weitergehen wird.

My last research was definitely the most disturbing one - when it comes to me. I asked myself again: How much can the human mind actually erode and turn into its perverse opposite? My last paper for Jane's Intelligence Review is about "Incels escalate misogyny and far-right extremism online". The keypoints are:   The online ‘Incel’ scene has connections to far-right extremism, which itself is often characterised by extreme misogyny. Mass shootings can frequently be tracked back to the Incel milieu, with perpetrators glorified as heroes and revolutionaries in Incel forums.
